LIFE Butler repairing building after March truck accident
Six months after the structure was heavily damaged after being struck by a truck, LIFE Butler County has finally commenced repairs this week on the roof of its building on West Diamond Street in Butler.
The portico-styled roof collapsed to the street after a truck, which was delivering supplies to the senior living facility, crashed into the front of the building on March 6. No one was hurt in the incident.
According to Harold Aughton, facilities director for Lutheran SeniorLife (which operates LIFE Butler County), the portico is more than a decorative feature — it provides shelter for LIFE residents as they enter and exit the building.
“The area has undergone extensive planning and reconstruction efforts to restore this important structure,” Aughton said in a news release. “The new design will continue to provide safety and ease of access for the many seniors who rely on LIFE Butler for their daily care and support.”
