Man charged in fatal shooting of Ellwood City Forge employee

An Ellwood City man is facing homicide charges after an employee at the Ellwood City Forge was fatally shot Thursday night, Sept. 19.

State police in New Castle charged Timothy A. Woods, 31, with homicide, carrying a firearm without a license and recklessly endangering another person. His preliminary hearing is scheduled Sept. 26 before District Judge Jerry Cartwright Jr.

According to the police records, Ellwood City police and state police responded to the shooting at the Lawrence County manufacturing facility and found Timothy Bollman, 36, of Fombell, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. The report also stated that multiple spent 9 mm casings were found near the Bollman’s body.

The incident took place inside the facility around 6:30 p.m.

Roughly 20 minutes later, according to police, Michela Baden called 911 and reported that Woods, the father of her daughter, had called to tell her that he was going to kill himself, and that he had just killed Bollman, who worked in maintenance at the forge.

North Sewickley police arrived at Woods’ home on Belton Road, where Baden told police that Woods was in the home and brandishing a gun. Woods surrendered and was taken into custody.

According to police, camera footage from the forge reportedly shows Woods running from the scene where Bollman was shot.

Executing a search warrant, police went into Woods’ home on Belton Road on Friday, Sept. 20, and recovered a 9 mm pistol with two live rounds, which officials said were consistent with the ammunition found at the crime scene.

A search of Pennsylvania’s gun permit records shows that Woods’ concealed carry permit expired Sept. 9, 10 days before the incident.

Bollman is survived by his wife, Hayley Walker Bollman, and two children, of Fombell. His obituary can be found on Page 6.
