Petrolia man jailed following alleged domestic assault
A Petrolia man has been jailed in lieu of $250,000 bail after being charged with strangling and assault his former girlfriend in her home Thursday morning, Sept. 19.
State police charged Troy W. Verner, 52, with felony strangulation, misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment after responding to the woman’s home just after 6 a.m.
She told police that she and Verner had been arguing for hours before police arrived. The argument became physical when he grabbed her neck causing her to grasp for breath, pulled her hair, slammed her face into a wall, threw her to the ground and kicked and punched her an unknown number of times, according to an affidavit.
The woman suffered multiple injuries including a bloody nose and bruises on both legs and arms and her jaw, according to the affidavit.
