Clayton D. Buck, 97, of Butler, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024.

Born in Knox, Pa. on Sept. 15, 1927, he attended a one-room elementary school. He worked on the family farm until graduating from Knox High School.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II. After the Navy, he worked for the B&O Railroad for 33 years, first as a telegraph operator and then as a freight agent in Zelienople.

An outdoors lover and avid motorcycle rider in retirement, he and his wife traveled cross country on their Harley to California and back.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Francis Buck, of Knox; his wife, Wanda Buck, of Harmony; stepdaughter, Kathy (Shoup) Scheidemantle; and stepson, Kevin Scheidemantle.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Rick L. Buck, and longtime companion, Kathy Sexton-Johnson; daughter, Cheryl A. (Gary) Slater; granddaughter, Nicole C. (Chad) Church; great-granddaughters, Montana Vanderzee and Marlowe Church; great-grandson, Maddox Church; and stepsons, Keith Scheidemantle and Kurt (Linda) Scheidemantle.

BUCK — Visitation for Clayton D. Buck, who died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024, at the funeral home, with Pastor Reid Moon officiating.
