One injured in Middlesex Township crash Thursday morning

One person was taken to a hospital after being involved in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning, Sept. 26, on Route 8 in Middlesex Township.

Adam Mills, a Middlesex Township police officer, said the person injured in the crash was driving northbound on Route 8 in a Jeep SUV when a Nissan Sedan pulled out from the Holy Sepulcher parking lot, colliding with the Jeep. The dispatch call reached police at around 7:55 a.m., Mills said.

The man driving the Jeep suffered a shoulder and leg injury, and was taken by Saxonburg Ambulance to UPMC St. Margaret from the scene. Mills said the southbound lanes on Route 8 were “pretty much shut down” while crews examined the scene and cleaned up the wreckage.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene, Mills said, and the driver of the Nissan was able to leave in a different vehicle.

Crews cleared the scene a little after 8:40 a.m., according to Mills.
