Butler County high school football roundup Week 6: Mars snaps skid, thumps West Mifflin; Moniteau falls

Gabe Hein and Eric Kasperowicz powered Mars to its first win since Week 1.

The star wide receiver and senior running back combined for six touchdowns in Friday’s 42-14 win at West Mifflin in a WPIAL Class 4A Greater Allegheny Conference opener, snapping a four-game skid in the process.

Hein contributed in three different ways. On top of a three-catch, 101-yard night that included a first-quarter 42-yard touchdown, he returned a kickoff 85 yards for a score and added a 13-yard TD run, all in the first half.

Kasperowicz scored three straight times in the red zone from 5, 3 and 1 yard to kick start the running clock. He finished with 111 yards on 19 carries.

Freshman Nate Walker, starting at quarterback and playing in his second game since Luke Goodworth suffered an injury two weeks ago, was 4-of-7 passing for 96 yards and a TD for Mars (2-4, 1-0 section).
