High school sports roundup: WPIAL sets golf championships tee times; Slippery Rock volleyball wins 5-setter
The WPIAL released next week’s tee times for the Class 2A individual golf championships. The boys Class 3A tee times were not available as of Friday evening.
Butler County has nearly a dozen representatives in three classifications competing. The 2A boys and girls tee times are the following:
∎ Boys Class 2A, Wednesday at Sewickley Heights Golf Club: North Catholic’s Eric Proie (9 a.m.) and Chris Faber (9:16 a.m.)
∎ Girls Class 2A, Monday at Butler Country Club: North Catholic’s Riley Kontul (10:36 a.m.) and Izzy Engelka (10:52 a.m.)
Slippery Rock won a thriller over Saegertown 3-2 Friday night.
Adison Novad had an impressive double-double of 11 kills and 21 digs in the match, with set scores of 25-23, 15-25, 20-25, 25-21, 15-13.
Lexi Plesakov had a monster 47 digs, Marissa Metzka had 13 kills, Zoey Pokrantz dished out 24 assists and CJ Sabo stuffed seven blocks.
