Northern Butler County fire departments respond to Hickman Lumber blaze
At least five volunteer fire departments from northern Butler County responded to a significant structure fire at around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Hickman Lumber at the intersection of State Route 208 and Lisbon Road in Emlenton, which is just over the Butler County line in Venango County.
According to Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department Chief Grant Ray, it was a “fully enveloped structure fire” when he arrived on scene.
Departments from four different counties, including Butler, Venango, Clarion and Mercer, were dispatched to the fire. Butler County departments from Slippery Rock, Eau Claire, West Sunbury, Harrisville, Marion Township and North Washington responded.
According to explorevenango.com, “no injuries had been reported” as of 4:30 p.m. In the same article, it was noted that the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal had been called to investigate what started the fire.
All fire departments were cleared from the scene at 6:53 p.m., according to Venango County 911. The full extent of the damage is still unknown.
