Maroney

William J. “Bill” Maroney, 82, of Buffalo Township, passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at Quality Life Services, Worthington.

He was born July 17, 1942, to the late William Y. and Martha L. (Woolslayer) Maroney.

He lived most of his life in Buffalo Township and was a plutonium technician for Westinghouse Electric in Cheswick for over 30 years. After his retirement, he worked for W.L. Roenigk as an aide on a school van, which his wife drove for six years. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Buffalo United Presbyterian Church, Buffalo Township. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 644 in New Kensington and the Directors Staff at the Syria Shrine. Bill was a 1960 graduate of Oakmont High School and enjoyed traveling, card playing and watching nature from his porch. He especially enjoyed his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Linda R. (Sutton) Maroney; daughter, Bobbie L. (Jerry) Stillions of Murrysville; grandson, Joseph Robert Stillions; granddaughter, Chelsey Marie Maroney; and great-granddaughter, Holly Josephine Maroney. Also surviving are his sister, Janet “Sis” (Toney) Kirk, of Alamogordo, N.M.; and extended grandchildren, Victoria and Braden Hoberg.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph E. Maroney, in 1996.

MARONEY — Visitation for William J. “Bill” Maroney, who died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at DUSTER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum.

Masonic Lodge 644 will hold services in the funeral home at 7 p.m. Monday.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Buffalo United Presbyterian Church, 678 Sarver Road, Sarver, Buffalo Township, with the Rev. Jean Smith, former pastor.

Burial will be in Buffalo United Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Buffalo Township.

The family suggests contribution be made in Bill’s memory to Shriners Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
