Breast cancer support group’s Pink Night Out set for Oct. 12

Pink Out Night is held every year at Butler’s Moose Lodge by the group Butler Breast and Women’s Cancer Support Group. Proceeds of the event go to the group’s charity efforts.

The Butler Breast Cancer and Women’s Cancer Support Group’s Pink Night Out is planned this year for 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Highfield Community Center, 229 Highfield Road, Butler Township.

The eighth annual event will benefit the nonprofit organization in its efforts to provide emotional and financial support to Butler County women undergoing treatment for breast and other cancers, as well as cancer survivors.

Dinners should be prepurchased no later than Saturday, Oct. 5, as limited dinner tickets are available at the door.

The dinners will feature stuffed chicken or pork chops, mashed potatoes, gravy, a vegetable, salad, roll, a beverage and dessert.

Additionally, the event will feature more than 100 gift baskets filled by local businesses, and guests can purchase 50/50 raffle tickets.

Cheryl Schaefer, head of the Butler Breast Cancer and Women’s Cancer Support Group, said there also will be local craft vendors on site to sell pink-related items, among other things.

“It's a lot of work,” Schaefer said. “I have been working for months to get stuff ready. In the end, it is all extremely worth it to make sure there are enough funds to last and help everyone that needs help.”

Dinner tickets are $15 each and can be purchased ahead of time by calling Schaefer at 724-282-4421. There is no cost to get in the door, so purchasing a dinner is not necessary to attend.
