Power outage planned for Sunday in Saxonburg

West Penn Power has scheduled a planned power outage from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, as part of an ongoing project to upgrade its Main Street circuit, which runs through Saxonburg.

The outage will impact customers in the area of Main, Rebecca and Carol streets; Butler Road; Evergreen, Holly and Magnolia courts; and Driftwood and Oakleaf drives in Saxonburg. Affected customers have been notified through automated phone calls or text messages using the contact information on file, according to a Tuesday news release from West Penn Power.

West Penn Power selected Sunday to reduce the impact of the service disruption for area businesses, local schools and motorists who travel Main Street. The power company said it has also notified officials of Saxonburg and Knoch School District about the outage.

About a dozen West Penn Power line workers with six bucket trucks will work at Main Street and Butler Road, as well as along Butler Road between Main and Water streets. Flaggers will redirect traffic from the area, while providing access as needed for emergency vehicles.
