Rachel Opp
Rachel Opp, 93, of Slippery Rock, peacefully passed away on Monday evening, Sept. 30, 2024, at Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle.
Born June 23, 1931, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late John and Isabella Sheffler Isaac.
She was a retired registered nurse. Her nursing career was in numerous hospitals in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Hawaii.
Family was very important, she loved time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed supporting her family’s Spring House Restaurant near Eighty Four, Pa.
While living many years in Hawaii, she was a member of the Lihue Lutheran Church in Kauai. Since moving back, she was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Portersville and was very supportive of the children’s ministries. She was a faithful member of Portersville Keenagers, where she enjoyed her friends, numerous bus trips traveling, and sponsored the Middlers’ Annual Luncheon.
Rachel enjoyed talking with family and friends, quilting, reading, cooking and discovering the latest time saving gadgets.
She is survived by her children, Dana (Margie) Opp of New Castle and Donald (Marcia) Opp of Eighty Four; her grandchildren, Rachel Ann Opp, Sarah (Eric) Miller, Donny Opp and Nathan Opp; her great-granddaughters, Annabelle, Shiloh and Jolene; her sister, Amelia Isaac of New Castle; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Gene Opp, who passed away in February 1983; and her siblings, George Isaac, John Isaac, Leona Didiano, Edward Isaac and Robert Isaac.
OPP — Visitation for Rachel Opp, who died Monday evening, Sept. 30, 2024, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Presbyterian Church of Portersville, 1297 Perry Highway, Portersville.
The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Tom Meling officiating.
