Butler woman charged with throwing coffee mug at delivery driver

A Butler woman has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident that occurred last week in which she is accused of screaming at neighbors in the middle of the night, as well as threatening a delivery driver, and throwing items at him.

Chloe C. Piper, 24, of Butler, has been charged with propulsion of missiles onto roadways, disorderly conduct, harassment by following in a public place, and scattering rubbish upon land.

Butler city police first became aware of the situation shortly before 10 p.m. Sept. 26. According to the police affidavit, a landscape delivery driver testified that the woman, who he later identified as Piper, was yelling at him from a third-story window for parking his delivery truck in front of her house.

According to the affidavit, the man accused Piper of screaming and acting hysterical, to the point she was scratching her face and drawing blood and said he thought she was on drugs.

The driver accused Piper of threatening to kill him, then running back into her house and throwing a glass object at him from a third-story window. According to the police report, officers returned to the scene and found remnants from a glass coffee mug on the street where the landscape truck was.

Once there, an officer recognized Piper from a previous arrest for public intoxication from two weeks earlier, and Piper repeatedly referenced the arrest to the officer while being arrested again.

Piper’s preliminary hearing has been set for Oct. 21 in front of District Judge William Fullerton.
