Man charged with breaking into ex’s home through window

A Butler man has been charged with breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s Butler home Tuesday by pushing an air conditioner through her window, then pushing her and her son and breaking items inside.

Brian W. Epright, 43, was charged with a felony count of burglary and misdemeanors criminal mischief and two counts of simple assault, and he was placed in the county jail in lieu of $100,00 bond.

The woman told Butler police that she called 911 after someone pushed in her window air conditioner and saw a man wearing red shorts fleeing from the scene. The man, who turned out to be Epright, returned and entered through the window while she was still on the phone with 911, according to an affidavit.

She told police that Epright pushed her, began smashing items like a TV, air conditioning unit, table and a tray, and then pushed her 4-year-old son, according to the affidavit.

Epright fled, but police apprehended him on Highland Avenue.

Police said the woman has a protection from abuse order against Epright.
