2 Seneca Valley students named as semifinalists for national scholarship
Two Seneca Valley High School seniors, Eric Chen and Ophelia Crano, have been named semifinalists in this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program.
This means the two will be able to continue to compete for one of the 6,870 available scholarships which are worth nearly $26 million combined.
Eric and Ophelia are two of the 16,000 semifinalists chosen from the 1.3 million high school students around the nation who entered the program as juniors in 2023.
In addition, four other students — Sydney Brower, Gavin Helmsen, Rohin Jayaraman and Patrick Monahan — have been named Commended Students for their outstanding performance on the qualifying test.
