Evans City appoints 2 to Stormwater Authority Board

EVANS CITY — Borough council unanimously approved the nomination of two men to the Southwest Butler Stormwater Authority board during a meeting on Monday, Oct. 7.

Council member Mark Widdersheim was approved as the borough’s representative for the five-member board to serve a one-year term. David Euillinger, of Zelienople, was approved as the authority’s at-large board member. He will serve a five-year term starting when the board first convenes.

Widdersheim, who already leads the stormwater committee for the borough, initially was appointed by the board during a July 1 council meeting. Council voted to join the stormwater authority at that same meeting.

The authority will charge stormwater fees to properties in each of the four participating municipalities: Evans City, Harmony, Jackson Township and Zelienople.

Now the board will look to receive the final draft of the stormwater authority’s articles of incorporation before making the motion to approve it.

“The new authority is shooting to file those articles of incorporation by Oct. 31,” Widdersheim said during the meeting. “We do need permission to advertise the fact that we are going to be filing the articles of incorporation with the commonwealth.”

Since councils need to advertise at least three days in advance of approving those legal documents, the board approved a legal ad for the articles of incorporation to be printed in the Butler Eagle no later than Oct. 28.
