Robert Rose

Rose

Born in Butler, Robert H. Rose was the beloved son of Olga Rose (née Matsko) and Robert Clay Rose. He passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024.

He served with honor in Vietnam in 1968, where he earned a Purple Heart for his bravery. His commitment to his country continued throughout a distinguished military career as a Green Beret and accomplished recruiter, until his retirement. Robert's military retirement was short-lived, as the events of Sept. 11 precipitated his return to the battlefield as a security contractor in Kosovo and Iraq.

Robert, a Master Mason, was a proud member of Dallas Lodge No. 231, the Scottish Rite of the Pittsburgh Valley and the Knights Templar No. 1 Pittsburgh Commandery.

He was a loving husband to Melanie Rose (née McKamish) and a devoted father to three children, Aaron Rose of Mars, Joseph (Suzy) Rose of Las Vegas, Nev., and Julie (Josh) Rose of Las Vegas, Nev. His wife and children remember Robert as an integral part of their lives and feel an immense loss at his passing. Robert will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, his strength, and the love he gave to his family and country.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Olga; father, Robert; brother, Bill; and his beloved dogs, RuRu, LuLu and Buddy.

May he rest in peace.
