Police say speed a factor after truck overturns on Route 422 ramp

A driver was charged with a speed violation after a truck he was driving overturned at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, on a ramp to Route 422 in Summit Township.

Pennsylvania State Police responding to the scene suspected the truck’s driver, Robert S. Morrill, 58, of Evans City, sustained minor injuries, but he refused EMS transport, according to the police report.

Morrill was traveling south on Route 68 when he attempted to turn left onto the Route 422 entrance ramp, according to police.

The 2015 Peterbilt commercial truck then overturned onto its passenger side, striking a light pole and coming to rest on the right shoulder of the ramp.

Assisting on the scene were Butler Bureau of Fire, Herman Volunteer Fire Company, East Butler Volunteer Fire Company and Ambulance Service, and Malinski Towing.
