Motor home in Mercer Township destroyed in Saturday fire
A large motor home caught fire while it was being driven on Oak Grove Lane in Mercer Township and was destroyed Saturday afternoon, Oct. 12.
The owner, who lives nearby, was driving near his home when the vehicle caught fire just before 1 p.m., said Steve Bickel, chief of Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company.
“It was destroyed. It was fully engulfed when we got there, and pretty well burned up,” Bickel said.
Firefighters responded to the area of Deer Hunter Campground in Mercer Township just after 1 p.m., and additional fire departments were called to the scene to provide more firefighters and additional water after the first dispatch.
Firefighters from the Marion Township and Slippery Rock, and Clintonville, Venango County, volunteer fire departments and Superior Ambulance also responded to the fire.
No injuries were reported.
