Political billboards promote anger
Traveling from mid-state westward on Rt. 422 is typically a welcome relief from Central Pennsylvania mountains to the more rolling and scenic hills of Butler County. This past week’s trip to camp in the area left a different and gut-wrenching feeling however.
A sickening sensation grabbed at my throat as the flashing political signs beginning in Worthington, spewed hatred, divisiveness, and evil incivility. No meaningful message of governance or policy were promoted; only a provoking the anger of the masses.
The sick feeling soon turned to one of sympathy for the people of Armstrong and Butler counties, some of whom must surely be embarrassed at how their home area must appear to those passing through. Your communities must surely be better than this.
Freedom of Speech — Yes
Poor Judgment — Yes
Signal of poor governance — That jury is still being assembled
Pathetic display to say the least.
