Nancy Jeane Baker, 68, of Slippery Rock, passed away at her residence, of natural causes, on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024.

She was born on Nov. 8, 1955, in Pittsburgh.

She worked as a teacher in many area schools, retiring from Victory Elementary School following more than 20 years of service. Nancy loved with all of her heart. Her most precious loves were her son and watching her amazing, talented granddaughter play softball and volleyball.

In addition to her love of children and her pets, she was an avid volunteer. She selflessly gave her time and devotion to many local organizations, including All Good Things, Helping Hands and Grove City Pet Rescue. Most recently, she was very active in developing an adaptive playground at Harrisville Park.

She is survived by her son, Nathan D. Smith; granddaughter, Savannah M. Smith, and Savannah’s mother, Andrea Stadler Smith; two nephews; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dwight B. Baker and Jeane Warner Baker.

BAKER — Family of Nancy Jeane Baker, who died Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St. Slippery Rock.

There will be additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at Highland Presbyterian Church, 310 Franklin St., Slippery Rock.

A celebration of life service will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, which will be conducted by the Rev. Jerry Mahaffey, retired pastor.

Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to All Good Things Thrift Shoppe in Grove City, Grove City Pet Rescue or Helping Hands of Grove City.
