Seven Fields readies for 2025 budget discussions
SEVEN FIELDS — Borough council set the groundwork for its annual budget talks at a meeting on Monday, Oct. 14.
Borough manager Tom Smith said council will convene again for an Oct. 28 meeting to discuss the 2025 budget.
“We’re looking ahead at final approval in probably November,” said Smith in response to council member Louis Borghi’s question about when the final budget will be approved. “But we have until Dec. 31.”
Borghi also asked Smith if he was concerned with any of the budget items, particularly as it relates to those upcoming talks.
Since one of the tenants in the Seven Fields borough office is moving out to find a larger space, Smith said revenue would be a point of emphasis.
“There’s definitely (a concern) with revenue, because you have a tenant that’s moving out, so we have space that we have to find a new tenant to replace almost $60,000,” Smith said. “We also have a police services agreement that has gone up (in cost).”
Council also unanimously approved the $14,545 allocation for the Cranberry Public Library for 2024 to meet the 5% per capita recommendation for the borough.
At a meeting in September, representatives from the Cranberry library asked council to increase their per capita spending in 2025 in support of the local library.
The library funding, along with decisions on water, police services, office space and road maintenance will be among the items discussed on Oct. 28.
