HVAC fire causes evacuation of Cranberry Township hotel, no injuries reported
The Wingate by Wyndham hotel in Cranberry Township, located on Executive Drive, was completely evacuated after an HVAC unit in a second-floor room caught fire Wednesday, Oct. 16.
Although the sprinkler system put the fire out and no injuries were reported, Scott Garing, Cranberry Township’s head of fire and emergency services, says that he expects the hotel to be out of service at least 24 hours due to water damage.
“(Guests have) come in to grab their items, but they've all been told to leave,” Garing said. “Water damage is the issue. Water's coming from all the light fixtures and everything.”
It is unknown what, if any, alternative arrangements the Wyndham is making for displaced guests. The front desk at the Wyndham did not immediately return a call.
