Catholic schools receive foundation funds

Three Catholic schools in Butler County will share grant funds from The Bridge Educational Foundation and Waste Management. Seated in front, from left, are Maura O’Brien of St. Kilian Catholic School; St. Kilian students; and Kristy Pietrone of St. Kilian school; and back row, from left, Lauren Leonard of Sts. Peter and Paul School in Beaver County; state Sen. Elder Vogel, R-47th; Erika Young of Waste Management; state Rep. Stephenie Scialabba, R-12th; and Sheila Colson of St. Kilian school.

Bridge Educational Foundation members visited St. Kilian Catholic School in Cranberry Township on Tuesday, Oct. 15, to present $13,000 in scholarship funds for Catholic schools.

Of the five schools to share the funds, three are in Butler County. They are North Catholic High School, St. Kilian Catholic School and St. Gregory Catholic School in Zelienople.

The other two schools to receive a share of the donation are St. Monica Catholic Academy and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School, both of Beaver County.

The foundation’s donation was supported by Waste Management, according to a news release from the foundation.

The funds, which were made possible through the state Educational Improvement Tax Credit program, will benefit families of students attending the schools through help with tuition.
