West

Richard Calvin West, 73, of Butler, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born May 10, 1951, in Butler, he was raised by his grandparents, the late Richard and Susie Fleming.

Richard graduated from Butler High School in 1971. He worked for Home Depot for 24 years as the manager of the paint section, where he was known as “Dr. Paint.” He was a member of Prospect Presbyterian Church, where he was both on session, as well as an elder. Richard also served as president of the Butler chapter of the United Commercial Travelers. He enjoyed going to Colonial Williamsburg, studying history, adventuring, telling stories and jokes, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed spending time with his loving family.

Richard is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jane (Guthrie) West, whom he married on May 25, 1996; his son, Timothy (Nicole) Emery; as well as his sister, Susan (Jim) Grafton.

WEST — Family and friends of Richard Calvin West, who died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Prospect Presbyterian Church, 115 Church St., Prospect, with Pastor Jason Sinagra officiating.

Burial will be held privately.
