Allegheny County man charged with fleeing from police

A Gibsonia man is facing felony fleeing and escape charges after police said he sped through red lights at intersections and crossed into oncoming traffic lanes while leading police on a high-speed chase in Adams Township last month.

Adams Township police charged James B. Lee Livingston, 29 with felonies escape and fleeing to elude police and 10 summary traffic violations stemming from the Sept. 25 incident.

Adams Township police said officers were asked by Northern Regional Police Department to help locate a woman who reportedly had been held against her will by her boyfriend in a home in Gibsonia, when an officer spotted the sport utility vehicle owned by Livingston, who lives at the home, according to an affidavit.

The vehicle was traveling east on Route 228 near Castle Creek Drive Extension when an Adams Township officer and four Cranberry Township officers attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled at a high speed, through that intersection and a red light at the intersection of Route 228 and Adams Shoppes crossing into the oncoming lane of Route 228, according to the affidavit.

Police said the vehicle crossed the center line on Route 228 again before speeding east, with other vehicles in the westbound lane. The vehicle crossed the center line again at Scharberry Lane and used the shoulder of Route 228 to pass another vehicle at high rate of speed, according to the affidavit.

The vehicle swerved back into the oncoming lane just before the Heritage Creek Drive intersection where police lost sight of it and ended the pursuit. The vehicle was found on Sept. 27 in Mars.
