High school sports roundup: Bish’s big night sparks U/ACV football
Senior quarterback Owen Bish passed for four touchdowns, ran for one and totaled 249 yards of offense as Union/A-C Valley’s football team closed the regular season with a wild 50-35 win at Reynolds on Thursday.
Aidan Fox caught three of the scoring tosses (7, 28 and 7 yards) while Christian Salizzoni snagged the other from 1 yard out.
Bish scored on a 51-yard run. Michael Yerkey (10 yards) and Max Gallagher (5) also scored on the gound for Union/A-C Valley, which led 28-21 at halftime.
Bish passed for 112 yards and rushed for 137.
The Falcon Knights (7-3) now await the release of the District 9 Class A playoff brackets.
North Catholic moved on to the WPIAL Class 4A semifinals by sweeping Peters Township on Thursday night.
The scores of the tightly-contested match were 26-24, 25-22 and 25-23.
Mars blanked West Allegheny 2-0, scoring its pair in the first half of a WPIAL Class 3A quarterfinal on Thursday night.
The Planets improved to 17-2.
North Catholic’s season ended with a 3-0 WPIAL Class 2A quarterfinal loss to Deer Lakes on Thursday.
The Trojans end the season with a record of 15-5.
