No. 4 BC3 volleyball enters playoffs undefeated
BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Community College volleyball team recorded the program’s second undefeated regular season since 2021 and will begin a postseason quest Saturday afternoon to reach the national championship tournament for the fourth time in program history.
The Pioneers (21-0) swept Thiel College’s junior varsity squad 25-7, 25-11 and 25-15 in BC3’s Field House.
BC3 is ranked No. 4 in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division III, which includes 87 programs from states such as Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas and Virginia.
The Pioneers will compete for the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference and NJCAA Division III Region 20 titles in a dual championship at 2 p.m. Saturday in BC3’s Field House. BC3 will face the winner of an 11 a.m. semifinal between the Community College of Allegheny County, Pittsburgh, and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, Johnstown.
The winner advances to Mid-Atlantic District championship tournament in North Carolina and to be hosted by the NJCAA Division III Region 10 winner. The district winner earns an automatic berth in the NJCAA Division III national championship tournament Nov. 14-16 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
BC3 has won eight consecutive WPCC titles and five NJCAA Division III Region 20 crowns in a row.
