Thursday dance recital first for company founded by area teen

Haylee Hogan, a student at Karns City Area Jr./Sr. High School, wanted to stay involved in dance even as she approaches the end of her high school career, and a recital Thursday night, Oct. 24, is her first foray into the world of dance instruction.

Haylee’s mom, Melissa Hogan, who manages Spotlight Dance Company, said the recital will feature dances from about 35 students who range in age from preschool to high school. The recital begins at 7 p.m. at the East Brady Community Center, and Hogan said it will be Halloween-themed.

“All of the routines are Halloween-themed, and all the dancers are wearing spooky costumes of their own choosing,” Hogan said.

There will be three performance groups at the recital, which are separated based on age: a little group, a middle group and a teen group.

Haylee choreographed all the dances herself, and there will be solos, duets and group dances with each group.

Hogan said the recital is free to attend and is mainly meant to be an introduction of the dance company to the community.
