Halloween comes early in Cranberry Township
CRANBERRY TWP — The township municipal building on Rochester Road hosted the annual “Great Pumpkin Festival” on Friday, Oct. 25.
Though Halloween was still six days away, many children, and even some adults, came to the municipal building in full costume, dressed as characters such as Batman, Superman, Elmo, the Cookie Monster, Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Spider-Man, and many others.
A “pumpkin patch” was set up in the center of the floor, where children could pick their own pumpkin, decorate it in another room, and take it home with them. The building’s gymnasium featured games and activities such as free-throw shooting and a photo booth, while another room offered airbrush tattoos and balloon art.
The township’s public library, which is located inside the building, contributed a “spooky storywalk” where visitors could read the pages of the book “Spooky Scary Skeletons.”
Local companies set up shop at the event, including Xfinity, which offered an interactive display where visitors could scan a QR code to take a picture with DreamWorks characters.
The Cranberry Township EMS department set up outside the entrance to the building to pass out treats.
