Symphony to perform dramatic show with guest musicians

The Butler County Symphony Orchestra will present “Symphony Fantastique” by composer Hector Berlioz at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.

Cellist Alexander Dimitrov, the featured soloist, is presented by the McKinney Foundation. Dimitrov will highlight Sergei Prokofiev’s “Sinfonia Concertante in E Minor.”

Dimitrov has received many national and international awards and performed as an orchestra musician and soloist for several well-known conductors, including Andrew Litton, the music director at the New York City Ballet.

He is currently solo cellist of the Cologne New Philharmonic Orchestra.

Returning for a second performance as guest conductor is Moon Doh, associate conductor for the Pittsburgh Symphony.

Patrons can assist in deciding the symphony’s new music director and conductor by providing feedback on Doh at the performance, as he is one of three finalists for the position.

Reserved tickets for the show are $30 for adults, and $10 for children and students. Reservations are available at butlersymphony.org.

Any available tickets will be sold at the door for $35 for adults and $12 for children and students.
