SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University senior quarterback Brayden Long is one of 16 finalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy, presented to the top scholar-athlete in all of college football.

Long is the only Division II player among the finalists. He will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship and an expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas to be recognized at the National Football Foundation’s Annual Awards Dinner in December.

Long is the third SRU player to be named a Campbell Trophy finalist, joining Marcus Martin from 2017 and Henry Litwin from 2021. He is one of two finalists with a 4.0 grade point average.

He has also been named Player of the Year in the PSAC and an Academic All-American in his collegiate career thus far.

Long is the most accurate passer in SRU history, completing 67.6% of his passes during his two years as a starer. He has thrown for 5,629 yards, 49 touchdowns and only eight interceptions in his Rock career.

The Campbell Trophy winner will be announced Dec. 10.
