Police: Butler man accused of firing gun near woman’s head
A Butler man is accused of firing a gun in a residence near a woman’s head on Saturday, Oct. 26, according to police.
Dustin Timothy Lindsay, 39, of Butler, was charged with felony discharge of a firearm into occupied structure, and misdemeanor reckless endangerment and simple assault. He is being held in Butler County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 2.
Police said they responded Saturday to a home in the 400 block of North Sixth Avenue in Butler, after a caller reported hearing a gunshot and a woman saying a firearm was discharged near her head. Police spoke with a resident of the home, who said Lindsay and a woman had left the residence. The resident then said police could search the garage, where police found a spent .45 caliber shell under a pickup truck in the garage.
Police said they spoke with a neighbor, who said he saw Lindsay strike a woman on the ground outside. The neighbor showed police a video that captured part of the incident, according to charging documents.
Officers arrested Lindsay when he returned to the home. Police said Lindsay told officers that he fired a gun at a woman during an argument that day, when she was about three feet from the firearm.
