Mary Drissler
Mary Therese Drissler, 77, of Mars, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, with her family by her side.
Mary was born in Pittsburgh, on Oct. 10, 1947, daughter of the late Matthew and Ruth (Callahan) Swall, and grew up in the North Hills. She attended Mount Alvernia Catholic School, and then went on to North Hills High School, graduating with the Class of 1965.
Mary married Thomas J. Drissler on June 23, 1973.
She had worked at Whitehead Hardware and Vaters Hardware, until she decided her young children were more important, and so she began her most successful vocation, as a homemaker.
Mary loved to cook and bake, especially cookies (lady locks were her specialty!). She enjoyed watching Westerns and cheesy horror movies, and most recently YouTube. She sent flowers to anybody that needed a pick-me-up or “just because I wanted to,” and she looked forward to luncheons and bingo night with her friend, Judy.
Mary had the biggest heart, and loved her family and friends selflessly. She was the absolute best wife, mom, grandma, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. We are all going to miss her so much!
Mary leaves behind her husband, Tom; her kids, Milton Drissler, Ruth Anne “Annie” Ford (Gabe), and her daughter-in-law, Anne Drissler; her five grandchildren, Lillian (Eli) Bowser, Bennington Ford, Arthur Ford, Thomas Drissler and Truman Ford; her brother, David Swall; her sister-in-law, Barbara Glaw; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dwight and Donna Drissler; her dearest friends, Denny and Judy Steele and their family; and her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Matthew David Drissler, who passed away on March 28, 2023.
Mary’s family would like to thank her care teams at UPMC Mercy Hospital, and St. John in Mars.
