Man charged with assaulting girlfriend
A man has been charged with assaulting his girlfriend in the driveway of his Butler Township home.
Butler Township police charged Robert D. Bledsoe, 51, with simple assault and harassment following the Oct. 25 incident.
His girlfriend told officers that Bledsoe punched her several times in the head while they were sitting in his vehicle in his driveway before he went into his house, got property owned by her and put it on her vehicle, according to an affidavit.
She reported that she tried to pull him away from her vehicle, but he pulled her to the ground. Bledsoe’s two teenage children tried to separate them, but he would not get off the woman, according to the affidavit.
Police said one of the children lay on the ground between Bledsoe and the woman as Bledsoe struck her in the head and face. The two teens eventually separated Bledsoe and the woman, police said.
Bledsoe, who had cuts on his face and neck, told police that the woman attacked him when he placed her property on the vehicle, and said he didn’t punch her when the two were sitting in the vehicle, according to the affidavit.
Bledsoe was released on unsecured bond. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 14 before District Judge Kevin O’Donnell.
