Elementary students at the Knoch School District will not go hungry on the weekend, thanks to a generous donation by a Coherent, formerly II-IV in Clinton Township.

Coherent donated 16 boxes of nonperishable items to the district’s K-5 Weekend Food Program. The boxes were delivered to Knoch Primary School on Wednesday, Oct. 30, by three employees from Coherent and the company’s mascot, Carl the Cat.

The K-5 Weekend Food Program supports students at the primary center and intermediate schools who are experiencing food insecurity by sending them home on Friday with bags containing meal items, snacks and drinks to enjoy over the weekend and during school holidays.

The program currently supports 40 students between the two schools.

School district officials remind residents and businesses within the district that both food and monetary donations for the program are welcome. More information on items to donate or how to make a monetary donation is available by visiting intermediate.knochsd.org then clicking on “@KIES.”
