Documentary on July 13 assassination attempt to be shown Thursday at Butler theater
A documentary on Butler County law enforcement’s efforts to protect the public and former President Donald Trump at a July 13 campaign rally will be screened Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Penn Theater, 149 N. Main St.
“Butler Under Fire: The Story of the Unsung Heroes,” a 23-minute long documentary, will be shown twice Thursday evening at the downtown Butler theater, once at 6 p.m. and again at 7:30 with a question-and-answer session with the production team following each show.
The film was produced by Franco Porporino Jr., whose past credits include “American Chopper,” “Live PD” and “Live Rescue.”
“The world should live like Butler County lives every day,” Porporino said Friday when talking about the documentary’s production. “God, country and family.”
The documentary includes interviews with Helen Comperatore, the widow of Corey Comperatore; members of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department where Corey Comperatore had served as chief; and members of local law enforcement, including Butler County Sheriff Mike Slupe and members of the Butler County Emergency Services Unit.
Corey Comperatore died shielding his family amid the shooting at the Butler Farm Show grounds on July 13. Trump’s ear was grazed by a bullet, and two others were injured before a counter sniper shot and killed the gunman.
Helen Comperatore and her family, as well as members of the Butler County Emergency Services are expected to attend the Thursday showings.
The documentary premiered Nov. 1 and is available on the streaming service Fox Nation.
Tickets for the screenings are being sold at Eventbrite for $10 apiece.
