Butler police investigating reported gunshots after Sunday incident
An investigation is underway after Butler police responded to a report of a series of gunshots Sunday afternoon, Nov. 10, on the 200 block of North Chestnut Street.
A Tuesday news release from Robert O’Neill, chief of Butler Bureau of Police, said police arrived to the 200 block of North Chestnut Street where residents reported a large group of people fleeing from the scene. The incident was reported at 12:25 p.m.
No injuries were reported, but police saw multiple bullet holes in the lattice work of the porch of 217 N. Chestnut St., confirming that multiple rounds had been fired in the direction of the residence.
There also appeared to be a bullet hole in the siding of the home across the street, O’Neill said.
Police officers and detectives recovered a handgun from the scene, where they also conducted interviews with witnesses.
The city police department is asking anyone with information, including photos or videos from the incident, to contact the city police through Butler County 911.
Butler Township police and state police also responded to the scene.
