Mary Jo Anne Bauman, of Saxonburg, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.

She was born June 10, 1933, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late Irving and Elda (Graham) Zorb. Jo Anne was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Zorb; and brothers, Fred Zorb and Irving Zorb.

Jo Anne worked at Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator after high school until she married Thomas Hook on Oct. 18, 1952. She enjoyed raising three children and was active in leadership roles in the Girl Scouts, Rainbow Girls and Order of the Eastern Star. Jo Anne also enjoyed teaching Sunday school at Grace Lutheran Church and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Later, she worked at the Blind Association in Butler, helping others who were visually impaired.

After Jo Anne’s husband, Tom, passed away on Aug. 10, 1981, she traveled with her brother and sister-in-law to Germany, Hawaii and Alaska.

On Oct. 24, 1986, Jo Anne married Donald Bauman of Saxonburg and was happily married until his death on July 10, 2020.

She was a very caring, loving and giving person who enjoyed interacting with others and loved visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She particularly enjoyed sleepovers with her grandchildren and delighted in giving them tea parties, watching Bob Ross with them, and swinging on the back porch.

Jo Anne is survived by her son, David Hook of Karns City; two daughters, Barbara Blakley of Butler and Debbie (Bill) Tishey of Fountain Inn, S.C.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews.

BAUMAN — Visitation with the family of Mary Jo Anne Bauman, who died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024, will be held from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Butler, immediately followed by a memorial service at Trinity. Graveside service will immediately follow at North Side Cemetery. The service will be streamed at www.youtube.com/@trinitylutheran-butler.

Memorials may be made to the Butler Blind Association, 322 N. Cedar St., Butler PA 16001.

Arrangements have been entrusted to YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.
