Press Club of Western Pa. opens applications for two scholarships
The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania is taking applications for its two annual scholarships — the $5,000 Bob Fryer Memorial Scholarship, now in its 19th year, and the $2,500 Press Club of Western Pennsylvania Scholarship.
The Fryer scholarship is named after Robert R. “Bob” Fryer, who served as managing editor of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review until his death from lung cancer in 2011.
Candidates for the scholarships must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and must be a resident of one of the 29 Western Pennsylvania counties, which includes Butler.
Applications can be downloaded from the Press Club’s website. The deadline for applications is Feb. 9, 2025. Both scholarships will be awarded on May 28, 2025, at the annual Golden Quills awards dinner.
