Butler girls volleyball coach Meghan Lucas retiring after 23 seasons leading Tornado
Longtime Butler girls volleyball coach Meghan Lucas told the Butler Eagle Thursday she is retiring from coaching.
Lucas has been coaching volleyball for the Golden Tornado since 2001. She’s also coached club volleyball for multiple organizations, including Renaissance and Revolution.
“I’ve been coaching for 30 years,” Lucas said. “I loved the game, but I also loved mentoring the girls that I coached. ... It just kind of felt like the right time.”
Lucas will stay around the sport as an official, having picked up on calling games the past few seasons.
Butler went 11-6 (4-6 section) this season and missed the WPIAL playoffs.
