Forward Township receives $216K for Ash Stop Park
Forward Township has received a $216,100 grant for the rehabilitation of Ash Stop Park through the state Community Conservation Partnerships Program.
The grant, announced Wednesday, Nov. 13, by state Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-8th, will be used to renovate the existing trail at the park, construct a new trail, and improve Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility, among other improvements.
“Investing in our local parks and recreational spaces strengthens our communities by providing valuable opportunities for outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship,” Bernstine said in a news release. “I’m happy to see Forward Township receive this grant, which will enhance Ash Stop Park and ensure it serves as a lasting resource for residents and visitors.”
The Community Conservation Partnerships Program is administered by the state Department of Natural Resources, and provides grant funding for parks and recreation projects, including the planning, acquisition, and development of public parks.
Ash Stop Park is one of four parks in Butler County to receive funding from the program this month. The others are Diamond Park and the Emily Brittain Elementary School playground in the city of Butler, which received $250,000 and $45,600, respectively, and the Winfield Township Community Park, which received $275,400.
