Police Reports
The following items were collected from various police departments:
Oct. 16 — Nick Lebond, 57, of Slippery Rock, was charged with misdemeanor simple assault related to an Oct. 16 reported disturbance on Jefferson Court. Police said Lebond hit his ex-girlfriend, who is also his roommate, multiple times causing red marks on her arms, chest and other areas of her body. Police said Lebond accused the woman of hitting him, but officers saw no signs of injury to him.
Oct. 21 — Cassie R. Grossi, 45, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor counts of DUI, possessing drugs and possessing drug paraphernalia related to an Oct. 4 traffic stop on South Cliff Street in Butler. Police said field sobriety tests showed Grossi was impaired, and a later blood test showed cocaine in his system.
Oct. 21 — Brian L. Lyon, 32, of Kittanning, was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession related to an Oct. 15 vehicle crash on Route 8 at its intersection with Hall Road in Brady Township. Police said a witness saw Lyon hide something in the woods. Police said while searching the area, they found a bag of marijuana.
Oct. 21 — Luke M. Thomas, 28, of New Brighton, was charged with misdemeanor DUI related to a Sept. 4 report of a disabled vehicle in a ditch on Burton Drive, Brady Township. Police said field sobriety tests showed Thomas was impaired, and a later blood test showed marijuana in his system.
Oct. 21 — James R. Proper, 50, of Union City, was charged with misdemeanor DUI related to an Aug. 3 traffic stop on Greenwood Drive, Butler Township. Police said field sobriety tests showed Proper was impaired, and a later blood-alcohol test showed his blood-alcohol content at 0.213%. In Pennsylvania, 0.08% is the legal limit.
Oct. 21 — Keith A. Wellman, 43, of Chicora, was charged with misdemeanor simple assault related to an Oct. 18 incident on Green Street in Chicora. Police said Wellman used a shelf to hit the another person in the arm at his home.
Oct. 21 — Skyler M. Parker, 21, of Chicora, was charged with misdemeanor counts of simple assault and resisting arrest related to an Oct. 19 incident. Police said Parker and a woman engaged in a struggle at his home, during which the two rolled off a bed and the woman suffered a contusion to the head. Police said Parker was believed to be under the influence of an unknown substance. Police said while arresting Parker, he struggled with officers and repeatedly pulled away from them.
9:41 a.m. Oct. 21 — Police responded to a reported hit-and-run on Fisher Road in Muddy Creek Township. Police said a black Jeep Liberty hit a Nissan 350Z and then fled the scene.
Oct. 18 — Kevin R. Lawther, 31, of Valencia, was charged with felony strangulation and misdemeanor simple assault related to an Oct. 17 incident on Rockdale Road in Penn Township. Police said Lawther pushed his girlfriend, shoving her into a wall which caused a bruise on her shoulder. Police said Lawther also grabbed her by the throat.
Oct. 18 — Travis R. Zukowksi, 35, of Saxonburg, was charged with misdemeanor DUI related to an Oct. 10 report of a driver slumped behind the wheel of a vehicle on North Pike Road in Winfield Township. Police said they found the vehicle being driven and pulled it over. Police said field sobriety tests showed Zukowski was impaired, and a later breath test showed his blood-alcohol content at 0.132%. In Pennsylvania, 0.08% is the legal limit.
Oct. 17 — Robert E. Schotting, 37, of Hopwood, was charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest related to an Oct. 16 reported disturbance on Fenelton Road in Clearfield Township. Police said during the investigation, they found Schotting had an active arrest warrant. Police said during the arrest, Schotting was argumentative, disobeyed commands and pulled away from officers.
Oct. 16 — Matthew J. Bowser, 34, of Emlenton, was charged with misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession related to an Oct. 14 traffic stop on West Sunbury Road, Center Township. Police said they suspected Bowser was a drug user. Police said Bowser denied consent to search his vehicle, and a later warrant was issued. Police said during the search, they found a glass smoking pipe with meth residue on it.
Oct. 15 — Ronda L. Schaeffer, 54, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor DUI related to an Oct. 11 two-vehicle crash on Oneida Valley Road in Summit Township. Police said Schaeffer caused the crash by turning in front of another vehicle. Police said Schaeffer was unable to complete field sobriety tests, and a preliminary breath test showed the presence of alcohol. Police said Schaeffer later refused to have her blood tested.
Oct. 16 — Austin R. Renk, 23, of Jefferson Hills, was charged with misdemeanor DUI related to an Oct. 12 traffic stop on Route 8 in Slippery Rock Township. Police said field sobriety tests showed Renk was impaired, and a later breath test showed his blood-alcohol content at 0.118%. In Pennsylvania, 0.08% is the legal limit.
