Ohio man faces forgery, identity theft charges
A Youngstown, Ohio, man is facing forgery charges after a Prospect man reported an unauthorized withdrawal of $1,600 from his First National Bank account.
Brian Philip Craciun, 50, is charged with one count of felony forgery and misdemeanor counts of identity theft and theft by unlawful taking, according to a police affidavit filed Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Police said Craciun was seen on surveillance film at an FNB branch in Hubbard, Ohio, making a withdrawal on Oct. 26 from the account of Scott McKinney, of Prospect.
McKinney reported the theft to state police in Butler.
Craciun is incarcerated in West Virginia after failing to post $10,000 bond for another alleged forgery at an FNB branch in Follansbee, W.Va.
In that incident, Craciun was charged Oct. 30, 2024, in the Magistrate Court of Brooke County, W.Va., with two counts of forgery, identity theft and possession of a counterfeit or unauthorized access device with intent to defraud.
Craciun’s preliminary hearing for the Pennsylvania charges is scheduled for Jan. 15 at District Court in Slippery Rock. His West Virginia hearing has not been scheduled.
