Officers arrest 14 people in drug-related search in Butler

Fourteen people were arrested after police served drug-related search warrants at homes on Locust Street in Butler on Thursday morning, Nov. 21, prompting a shelter-in-place order to be issued for people in the area.

Trooper Bertha Cazy, state police public information officer, said the search involved state police, Butler County Drug Task Force, the Drug Enforcement Agency and the District Attorney’s office. About 60 officers were involved in the search, according to Cazy.

State police issued a shelter in place order shortly after 7 a.m. for people in the vicinity of Locust and West Chestnut streets Thursday morning. The order ended around 7:45 a.m.

Cazy said the investigation is ongoing. Details on the reason for the search, or the people arrested, were not available.
