Grant available in Butler County related to training for gas well-related emergencies
The application period is open for a grant that provides funding for Pennsylvania volunteer and career fire, emergency medical services and rescue companies to acquire specialized training, skills and equipment to respond to gas well-related emergencies.
Fire companies, rescue companies and EMS agencies in the 40 counties with unconventional gas wells, and the 11 counties that directly border those counties, are eligible to apply for the grants. Agencies in Butler County, which has more than 1,100 permitted Marcellus Shale gas wells, are eligible to apply for the 2024 Act 13 Unconventional Gas Well Fund.
The online application will remain open until 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.
