John Mark Edwards
John Mark Edwards, 73, of Butler, born Sept. 10, 1951, passed away at Allegheny General Hospital on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, after a courageous yearlong battle with brain cancer.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Royd and Ethel Edwards; and brother-in-law, John Weigand.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kim Edwards; his son, Thomas (Sarah) Edwards; two stepsons, Dustin (Jamie) Thompson and David (Adriane) Thompson; his sister, Barbara (Jerry) Weigand; and his cherished grandchildren, Frederick and Charles Edwards. A 1969 graduate of Knoch High School and a 1974 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Mark began his distinguished career at Butler Memorial Hospital in 1977. Over his 41 years with the hospital, he took on various roles, ultimately retiring in 2018 as the risk manager and safety officer. Even in retirement, Mark’s dedication to his community continued when, in 2020, he was asked to return to Butler Health System to assist with the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his personal life, Mark was an avid golfer who enjoyed spending time on the course with a steady group of close friends, valuing both their camaraderie and the peaceful moments the game provided. Mark was also a talented musician who enjoyed playing the piano, a gift he cherished throughout his life. Mark was a member of Butler/Victory Masonic Lodge 272.
