North Catholic girls basketball started the season 0-2 with consecutive losses in the North Allegheny Tip-Off Tournament.
Greensburg Central Catholic’s Erica Gribble and Jayla Pederson scored 27 and 25 points, respectively, in a 64-44 win over North Catholic in Saturday’s season opener. Brady Wehner scored 12 for NC.
Then Sunday, the Trojanettes lost to Mt. Lebanon 52-46. Brady Wehner scored 17 points and Sam Weir had 10 in the loss.
Thomas Jefferson 77, Knoch 19 — The Knights fell to 0-2 at the Montour Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday. Karlee Buterbaugh scored a team-high 10 points in the loss as Kaylee DeAngelo paced TJ with 20 points. Neah Ewing had six points, both on 3s, for Knoch.
Seneca Valley 53, Imhotep 39 — The Raiders got 18 points from Gracie Cato and 14 more from Natalie Hambly, including four 3-pointers, in Game 2 of the Play 4 MAE Tournament at Woodland Hills High School. Reece McFadden added 10 points.
Boys basketball
Summit Academy fell to 0-2 with a 53-51 loss to Leechburg in the consolation game of the Leechburg Tip-Off Tournament.
DeMetrius Cosby led the Falcons with 26 points, and Qur’An Fisher chipped in 10.
