Emlenton man accused of attacking Western Security Treatment employees

An Emlenton man has been arrested for attacking multiple people at an Allegheny Township business, including hitting one from behind with a chair.

Calid Ali Ras Pettiford, 20, was charged Nov. 25 with three felony counts of aggravated assault, three misdemeanor counts of simple assault and three summary charges of harassment after police received a call from employees at Western Secure Treatment Unit Right of Passage around 11 p.m. Nov. 18.

Police said they were advised that a resident had attacked multiple employees at the residential treatment facility for at-risk male youth, located at 12 Dakota Drive in Allegheny Township.

Upon arriving at the facility, police said they were told Pettiford had attacked three employees with a chair, hitting one in the back. He also had punched one employee in area of that person’s head, face and neck, and held another by the throat when they tried to restrain him, police said.

According to the police report, surveillance footage was obtained that confirmed the story told by employees.

Pettiford is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
