HARMONY — The Harmony Silvester Celebration once again will feature a 5K race and 1-mile fun run Dec. 31.

Registration is open for both races. The 5K starts at 3:30 p.m. and begins and ends at the entrance of Harmony Museum’s parking lot on Mercer Street. The fun run starts at 4:15 p.m. on Wood Street across from Harmony Inn.

Harmony Silvester Celebration is held in Historic Harmony and honors the borough’s German heritage. Following the races, there will be a ball drop at 6 p.m. (midnight in Germany), along with other activities such as a Christmas tree and wreath toss, fireworks, vendors and singing “Auld Lang Syne.”

According to a news release, participants will receive a long-sleeve technical shirt while inventory lasts. To guarantee shirt size, participants must register for the races Dec. 9. Awards will be given to the top three overall runners, and medals will be given to the top three in five-year age brackets from age 10 to 80.

The 5K registration fee is $25 until Dec. 15, then $30 until the time of the race. The 1-mile fun run costs $12 until Dec. 15, then $15 until race time. Registration is open until race time at Grace Church of Harmony’s gymnasium.
